Skills of a Project Manager
  • Leadership:  Being the project manager means creating the roadmap for the project. Using this roadmap you manage to project by assigning tasks and supporting the team while managing client expectations.  The leadership of the project revolves putting the processes in place to achieve the goals of the project.
  • Communication:  Effective project managers must have the ability to clearly communicate the requirements of the project to team members. They also must be able to communicate to the client how the project will progress and what the challenges are.
  • Negotiation Skills are required at many stages of the project.  This can mean having the ability to negotiate the financial terms of the project.  Project managers also need to be able to manage conflicting interests in the project.
  • Planning Skills.  The ability to plan and schedule tasks while prioritising needs across available resources is crucial.  Also, it is necessary to have good time management skills to fulfill the requirements of the project. There are a variety of useful online project management tools and calendars to help with the planning of a project.
  • Risk Management:  Understanding how to evaluate and control risks and identify hazards is a key function of a projection manager. These include the ability to assess the potential legal, financial and health and safety risks.
Course summary

This course covers some of the common project management methodologies, setting goals, and actually achieving them, identifying the need for a project to be started and  using key project management tools. When a project is managed correctly it ensures that there’s a sound business reason for undertaking the project, that it’s clear who’s involved in delivering the project, what the expected outcomes are and how resources and risks will be managed throughout the project. When it’s done poorly the project can suffer from feature creep, delays, go over budget or not get finished at all.

Online assessment in project management training course is carried out by a series of multiple choice questions. Candidates must answer 70% of the questions correctly to pass each module. We advise you to complete each module and answer the question before moving on to the next module. This provides a better learning experience because you will need to have knowledge from earlier modules to understand some of the material in the later modules. For those who complete the course successfully, a PDF certificate of the award is sent directly to your inbox.  Hard copies of the award are available on request.  The course takes 90 minutes of training to complete. This is course content only and does not cover the time it takes to answer questions.
